Coming to an end

Well it all seems to be coming to an end, which is a relief as it means summers here but also all this hard work can be shown and seen by others, not just ourselves!
Most people within the whole class are feeling anxious now about the result and who will win the title of best documentary, which will be used by Miss Edwards to advertise the school to new students who are looking to join the school and their parents as well!
I think that everyone deserves to win because they all seem to of worked very hard during the task...and also with enthusiasm which has created a brilliant atmosphere. The competitive side to people hasn't shown much which is good but im sure people are feeling very competitive and even more so now it is coming to an end!
Well i look forward to the result!

Finishing touches

We have been given a deadline now...Wednesday 18th July!
Seeing as the deadline is so near, everyone seems to be panic free and all have the same aim of finishing the documentary so that it is the best our group can achieve.
The music we have chosen to have in the background works really well and the voice overs have created a very effective affect! We chose to have different voice overs throughout the piece so that a different voice could be related to each subject, which is different to normal voice overs, but I believe that this has worked very well so that is an affect I have learnt during this task and that you don't have to use traditional effects!
Each clip has been shot very well to show the best parts of the school (even down to the break time clip where we filmed someone eating an apple).
I believe that our documenatry has worked very well and everyone should be proud of what we have managed to achieve!

More editing

Well, we have continued to edit our documentarys and finally we can see it coming together...all the footage is great and we are starting to choose the best bits to use within the documentary!
The group is working as a team and the task has been fairly easy as everyone is there to help and we can get it done whether anyone is away or not as everyone has taken an active role from the beginning.
Everyone has enjoyed the task that we have been set and I believe that the group have worked well...even though we were put with people we wouldn't normally choose to work with!
The task has been a good experience and finally we can see an end to all the hard work everyone has put in!

Ringwood School Crest

Documentary for Ringwood School

Comments please

Come on guys...we want comments about our blog!!!

Continuation of downloading and editing

Today our group was slightly smaller so we decided to split up in order to make the most of the time we have left to complete the task we have been givien to carry out.
Sian, India, Dan and Helen decided that they would carry on with the downloading and editing, whilst I (Jess) decided to write so all you lot could see what we have been up to on our blog!
Overall, I believe that everyone is enjoying this task and are getting really involved in the roles they have been assigned to...some more than others!
Weather is looking good at the moment so I hope it stays this way in order for us to keep going with the task!
Speak soon....

Downloading

Today was the start of the downloading process as we have got a lot of footage and thought it would be a good idea to get going on the editing and film as we go along if there are extra bits though of.
Hannah had a very hands on approach to this and seemed to know what she was doing so we all just looked at the footage and had a laugh and good and bad shots we had filmed!
The footage we have got is very promising and I look forward to seeing the finished product!

Filming gets going

Today filming really got going and we filmed a lot of the footage we wanted for our documentary! Weather hasn't been good at all so it was quite important that we got as much as we could done so that when the weather turned bad again we would be able to get the downloading and editing done in order to reach the deadline expected!
Sexy shots has been an idea we have been talking about since the beginning and today we put this into practise during a filming session in the music block...up close on the hands whilst hannah played the piano and up close whilst sian played the drums! This worked very well and I am sure it will be used during our documentary!
All in all it is coming together well and our final piece should be good!!!!

Slow moving

Today was quite annoying as we could not keep going with filming of the documentary because of the weather! As we want the documentary to show the best of the school...we decided that it would be best to film when the weather was better!
This quite annoying as it means not being able to carry on with production and as we under a time restriction to do it we want to keep the production going.
Hopefully the weather will be better for next time!

Getting going

Today we started the first part of filming our Documentary for Ringwood School. Firstly, we deecided that we would get 2 pupils views of the school and the 6th form...Hannah and Lucy were very useful and their views about the school would be useful to use within the documentary!
During the second part of our double media lesson we drew up a storyboard as to what the rough plan of our documentary was and how we would go about filming. This gave us a chance to discuss finer points of the documentary and specific shots and camera angles we would use throughout.
Also we came up with specific ideas that would make our documentary differ from other groups documentarys and hopefully help us win! Our first idea was: make signs that would have 'Welcome to Ringwood School' in different languages which would be held up by different students of different agesand this would emphasise the idea that our school is a language college!
As we were putting together the ideas, different things that we had forgotten started to be remembered, such as departments within the school we needed to film and lessons that would promote our school in the best possible way!
A BIG thing we realisedwould really be important in our documentary was the voice of the people!!!

First Ideas

We were given the task of creating a documentary about Ringwood School which would be shown to perspective parents of children who are wanting to start their education at the school!
Firstly we decided on a name for our group, which we all agreed would be Eclipse Media.
We also decided that we would assign each person within the group to a post so that we could each concentrate on playing a part within the film and so that the making was as organised as possible. This is what we decided:
Researchers/blog writers - Jess
Scriptwriters/ Storyboard artists - Dan & India
Directors - Sian & Helen
Cameramen - Sian & Hannah
Reporters/Presenters/Voice overs - India & Hannah & Helen
Editors - Hannah & Jess
We began to decide on rough ideas as to what we wanted to include within the documentary and what parts of the school we would include, who we would include and how we were going to structure the documentary.
Firstly, we came up with places around the school that we like to film, such as; history department, tutor groups & their assemblys, Arts, drama, music, science, technology and the eco-schools group. There was also the idea that we would use footage from the school sports day but we do not know whether the footage will be ready for the deadline so there is still a ? for this idea.
Techniques that we decided would be good and create effects within the documentary were fast paced shots so the viewer is kept interested, the voice of a new student who would take of their experience joining the school. Also, we decided that we would get the opinions of both students and staff within Ringwood School.
